In 1945, a young doctor, Tatsuichiro Akizuki, faces the second atomic bomb at Nagasaki. In Urakami town, he is the only doctor at Urakami First Hospital. The Urakami town is severely destroyed. Since there are no medicine and no medical tools in the hospital, he has agony in his heart.

However, Dr. Akizuki overcomes the pain in his heart because of the dignified spirits of all the atomic bomb victims who try to survive. He continues to give his patients good treatment. Many innocent people die and finally he finds out that he is also contaminated and struggles from symptoms of radiation. After 40days from the bombing, Typhoon Makurazaki hits Nagasaki...
